When you consider the fact that there are 50 different states to choose from for vacation or to call home, you certainly do have a lot of options. The state of Pennsylvania, however, offers much to those who want to visit and certainly has many metropolitan areas and small towns where people can make a home, raise a family and even spread out and enjoy some country living.

There are many interesting things about Pennsylvania that you may not realize. Have you ever eaten a cheesesteak sandwich? If you have, you can thank the city of Philadelphia for creating it. As a matter of fact, it is known as a “Philly steak and cheese” in many locations, and most people who are from Philadelphia would never think about eating one that was made somewhere else. Philadelphia is also the home of soft pretzels and tasty cakes. It is also where the first American flag was made.

As is the case in many areas around the country, there are some unusual laws that exist in the state of Pennsylvania. These are often hidden away and at times, they make up an interesting part of small communities. For example, if you live in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, you would not be allowed to sip a carbonated drink if you were in a school auditorium to lecture students.

1909 was a banner year in the city of Pittsburgh. It is when the first baseball stadium was built in the city, and that has become a hallmark of that area of the state. In fact, Pittsburgh is not only known for its baseball team, it is also known for having one of the best football teams of all time, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Finally, you can thank Pennsylvania if you love Hershey’s chocolate. In fact, Hershey, Pennsylvania is the home of the chocolate factory and they even have their own amusement park as well.
